Sahih al-Bukhari 1210 (Book 21, Hadith 14) #1165
Victory of Allah's Messenger Over Satan

SUMMARY: Allah gave the Prophet (ﷺ) an upper hand over Satan and he was humiliated.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet once offered the prayer and said, "Satan came in front of me and tried to interrupt my prayer, but Allah gave me an upper hand on him and I choked him. No doubt, I thought of tying him to one of the pillars of the mosque till you get up in the morning and see him. Then I remembered the statement of Prophet Solomon, 'My Lord ! Bestow on me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me'. Then Allah made him (Satan) return with his head down (humiliated)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Put your trust in God's power
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the time when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was offering his prayer and Satan came to interrupt him. However, Allah gave him an upper hand over Satan and he was humiliated. The Prophet ﷺ then remembered a statement from Prophet Solomon which said “My Lord! Bestow on me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me”. After this Allah made Satan return with his head down in humiliation. This hadith teaches us that if we put our trust in Allah He will always help us overcome our enemies no matter how powerful they may be. We should also remember that whatever we ask for from God should be for His pleasure only and not for personal gain or pride.
