Sahih Muslim 1713a (Book 30, Hadith 4) #11584
The Consequences of Unjust Decisions

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of justice and fairness in decision making, and how accepting an unjust decision can lead to punishment in the afterlife.

Umm Salama reported Allah's Messenger as saying: You bring to me, for (judgment) your disputes, some of you perhaps being more eloquent in their plea than others, so I give judgment on their behalf according to what I hear from them. (Bear in mind, in my judgment) if I slice off anything for him from the right of his brother, he should not accept that, for I sliced off for him a portion from the Hell.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for justice and fairness when making decisions

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of justice and fairness when making decisions. It warns against accepting an unjust decision, as it may lead to punishment in the afterlife. The Prophet Muhammad is reported to have said that if he makes a judgment that takes away something from one person’s right, then they should not accept it because he has already taken away a portion from their share in Hell for doing so. This hadith teaches us that we must always strive for justice and fairness when making decisions, even if it means going against our own interests or desires. We must also be aware that any injustice we commit will be punished by God in the hereafter.
