Sahih Muslim 1710d (Book 29, Hadith 71) #11579
Compensation for Injuries and Buried Treasure

SUMMARY: There is no compensation for injuries caused by falling in a well, mine or by an animal, but the government is entitled to one-fifth of any buried treasure.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: The wound caused (by falling) in the well, in the mine, and caused by the animal has no requital for it; and there is one-fifth (for the government) in the buried treasure.

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey laws of the government , Share wealth with those who are in need .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that if someone gets injured due to falling in a well, mine or from an animal, there will be no compensation for it. However, if someone finds buried treasure then the government has the right to take one fifth of it. This teaches us that we should not expect any reward when we get hurt due to our own negligence and also that we should share our wealth with those who are in need. It also shows us how important it is to obey the laws of the government and pay taxes as required.
