Sahih Muslim 1709c (Book 29, Hadith 66) #11574
The Pledge of Purity

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the pledge taken by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from his followers to not associate anything with Allah, not steal, not commit adultery, not kill their children and not bring calumny upon one another. The reward for fulfilling this pledge rests with Allah and those who are punished for their sins will be expiated.

'Ubida b. as-Samit reported: Allah's Messenger took (a pledge) from us as he took from the women that we will not associate anything with Allah and we will not steal, and we will not commit adultery, and we will not kill our children, and we will not bring calumny upon one another. And he who amongst you fulfills (this pledge), his reward rests with Allah, and he upon whom amongst you is imposed the prescribed punishment and that is carried out, that is his expiation (for that sin), and he whose (sins) were covered by Allah, his matter rests with Allah. He may punish him if He likes or may forgive him if He so likes.

In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) took a pledge from his followers to stay away from certain sins such as associating anything with Allah, stealing, committing adultery, killing their children and bringing calumny upon one another.
