Narrated Zaid bin Arqam: In the lifetime of the Prophet we used to speak while praying, and one of us would tell his needs to his companions, till the verse, 'Guard strictly your prayers (2:238) was revealed. After that we were ordered to remain silent while praying.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remain Silent While Praying .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains an important lesson about prayer. In the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad, people used to talk while praying and tell their needs to their companions. However, after a verse from the Quran was revealed - 'Guard strictly your prayers (2:238) - they were ordered to remain silent during prayer. This teaches us that prayer is an important act of worship and should be done with respect and reverence. We should not speak or distract ourselves during prayer as it takes away from its spiritual significance. It is also important for us to remember that we are communicating directly with Allah when we pray and so it is essential for us to focus on our prayers without any distractions or conversations taking place around us.
