Drinking Milk and Urine for Survival

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad commanded some people of the tribe of 'Ukl or Uraina to drink the milk and urine of milch she-camels when they found the climate of Medina uncongenial.

Anas b. Malik reported that some people of the tribe of 'Ukl or Uraina came to Allah's Messenger , and they found the climate of Medina uncongenial. Allah's Messenger commanded them to the milch she-camels and commanded them to drink their urine and their milk. The rest of the hadith is the same (and the concluding words are): " Their eyes were pierced, and they were thrown on the stony ground. They were asking for water, but they were not given water".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow commands given by Prophet Muhammad even if it seems strange at first glance . Look for solutions no matter how difficult your situation may be .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of people from the tribe of 'Ukl or Uraina who came to Medina and found its climate uncongenial. In order to survive, Allah's Messenger commanded them to drink the milk and urine from milch she camels. This was an extreme measure taken by Prophet Muhammad in order for these people to survive in a difficult situation. It teaches us that we should be willing to do whatever it takes in order for us to survive, even if it means doing something that may seem strange or uncomfortable at first glance. We should also remember that Allah will always provide us with solutions if we are willing to look for them, no matter how difficult our situation may be.
