QUICK LESSONS:
Take an Oath only in the name of Allah
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about taking oaths and swearing. It is narrated that Allah's Apostle heard 'Umar while he was taking an oath by his father. This hadith teaches us that it is not permissible to take an oath by anyone other than Allah as it is a form of shirk or associating partners with Him. We should only swear by the name of Allah and no one else as He alone has the power to fulfill our promises and make them come true. We should also be careful when making promises or taking oaths as we are accountable for our words in front of Him on the Day of Judgment.
