EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about reducing the amount of property that one wills away from a third to a fourth part. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas and Waki, who both reported that Allah's Messenger said that the third part is quite substantial. This suggests that it is better for people to reduce their willed property in order to ensure they are not giving away too much. The values taught in this hadith include generosity, moderation, and being mindful of how much one gives away. It also teaches us to be mindful of our possessions and not give away more than we can afford or more than what is necessary.
