Sahih Muslim 1625a (Book 24, Hadith 26) #11300
Gifts Given for Life

SUMMARY: A gift given to someone is theirs and their heirs, and it does not go back to the one who gave it.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Messenger as saying: "Any man who is given a gift for life, it belongs to him and his heirs. It belongs to the one to whom it is given, and does not go back to the one who gave it, because he has given it in such a way that it is subject to the rules of inheritance".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take gifts seriously . Respect them . Pass them on through generations as part of an inheritance .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that when someone gives a gift, it belongs to the person who was given the gift and their heirs. The giver of the gift cannot take back what they have given away because they have already made it subject to inheritance rules. This means that if something is gifted, then it will be passed down through generations as part of an inheritance. It also teaches us that gifts should be taken seriously and not taken lightly as they are important in terms of passing on wealth from one generation to another.
