Sahih Muslim 1616e (Book 23, Hadith 10) #11260
Praying Towards Qibla

SUMMARY: Prayer should be done facing towards the qibla, however if something is blocking it, one can still pray in whatever direction they are facing without turning their neck.

This hadith is transmitted on the authority of Shu'ba but with a slight variation of words.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect & obey Gods commands while praying .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains how Muslims must pray towards the qibla which is a direction that points towards Kaaba in Makkah. It is important to face this direction while praying as it shows respect and obedience to God. However if something like a saddleback or any other object blocks this view then one can still pray without turning their neck away from where they are standing. This hadith teaches us about respecting God's commands even when we cannot see what He wants us to do directly. It also teaches us about being patient and obedient even when things don't go our way as we have faith that God knows best what He wants from us.
