The Blessing of Refraining from Swearing

SUMMARY: Swearing can make a sale easier, but it takes away the blessing.

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) said he heard Allah's Messenger as saying: Swearing produces a ready sale for a commodity, but blots out the blessing.

QUICK LESSONS:
Use kind words when speaking with others and avoid using bad words as much as possible .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences of swearing. It teaches us that although swearing may make a sale easier, it will take away any blessings associated with it. This means that even if we are able to get something we want by using bad language, in the end we will not be rewarded for our actions and may even suffer negative consequences. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was teaching us to use kind words and refrain from cursing or swearing in order to receive blessings from Allah. We should strive to use polite language when speaking with others and avoid using bad words as much as possible.
