Sahih Muslim 715t (Book 22, Hadith 144) #11217
Generosity of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) bought a camel from Jabir and paid him more than the agreed price. He also slaughtered a cow and shared it with Jabir, then asked him to pray two rak'ahs in the mosque.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported: Allah's Messenger bought a camel from me for two Uqiyyahs and a dirham or two Dirhams. As he reached Sirar (a village near Medina), he commanded a cow to be slaughtered and it was slaughtered, and they ate of that, and as he (the Holy Prophet) reached Medina he ordered me to go to the mosque and offer two rak'ahs of prayer, and he measured for me the price of the camel and even made an excess payment to me.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the generosity of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He bought a camel from Jabir for two Uqiyyahs and a dirham or two Dirhams, which was an agreed upon price. However, when they reached Sirar, he slaughtered a cow and shared it with Jabir as an act of kindness. When they reached Medina, he measured out for Jabir more money than what was originally agreed upon as payment for the camel. Lastly, he asked him to go to the mosque and offer two rak'ahs of prayer as an expression of gratitude towards Allah SWT for his blessings. This hadith teaches us that we should always be generous towards others even if we are not obligated to do so; it also reminds us that we should always thank Allah SWT for His blessings by offering prayers regularly in order to show our appreciation towards Him.
