EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences of keeping a dog for any purpose other than herding or hunting. According to this hadith, if someone keeps a dog for any other reason than herding or hunting they will lose two qirats of their good deeds every day. A qirat is an amount that is equal to one fourth part of something and in this case it refers to one fourth part of the reward that someone would have received from Allah for doing good deeds. Therefore, it can be concluded that keeping a dog should only be done when necessary and not just as an act of pleasure because it can lead to losing out on rewards from Allah Almighty.
