The Importance of Water for Vegetation

SUMMARY: We should not withhold excess water so that vegetation can grow.

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger as saying: Do not withhold excess of water, so that you may prevent the growth of herbage.
وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَرْمَلَةَ - أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَمْنَعُوا فَضْلَ الْمَاءِ لِتَمْنَعُوا بِهِ الْكَلأَ
