Buying Goats and Returning Them

SUMMARY: A person who buys a goat with its udder tied up has the option to keep it or return it with a sa' of dates.

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger as saying: He who buys a goat having its udder tied up has two courses left for him. He may retain it, and if he desires may return it along with a sa' of dates and not wheat.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about buying goats and the options available to the buyer. According to this hadith, if someone buys a goat with its udder tied up, they have two choices. They can either keep the goat or return it along with a sa’ of dates instead of wheat. This teaches us that when we buy something, we should be aware of our rights as buyers and make sure that we are not being taken advantage of in any way. We should also be mindful when returning something that we bought so that we do not cause any harm or inconvenience to others.
