Color Reversion in Children

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) taught that the color of a child is determined by the strain to which it has reverted.

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported: There came a person to the Prophet (may peace he upon him) ) from Banu Fazara and said: My wife has given birth to a child who is black, whereupon Allah's Apostle said: Have you any camels? He said: Yes. He again said: What is this colour? He said: They are red. He said: Is there a dusky one among them? He said: Yes, there are dusky ones among them He said: How has it come about? He said: It is perhaps the strain to which it has reverted, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: It is perhaps the strain to which he (the child) has reverted.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show compassion towards those seeking help or advice from you; Respect genetics; Understand others’ situations before passing judgement on them; Be kind in your words and actions towards others; Listen carefully before responding.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that the color of a child is determined by the strain to which it has reverted. It was narrated by Abu Huraira who reported that a person from Banu Fazara came to Prophet Muhammad and said his wife had given birth to a black baby. The Prophet asked if he had any camels and when he said yes, he asked what their colors were. When he replied they were red and dusky, the Prophet said it was likely due to this strain that his baby's skin color changed as well. This hadith teaches us about genetics and how certain traits can be passed down from parents or ancestors through generations. It also shows us how compassionate and understanding our beloved prophet was towards people who came to him for help or advice - even if their questions seemed trivial or insignificant at first glance!
