Sahih al-Bukhari 1119 (Book 18, Hadith 39) #1079
Prayer Habits of the Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to pray sitting and standing, and would talk to his wife Aisha if she was awake after finishing the prayer.

Narrated 'Aisha: (the mother of the faithful believers) Allah's Messenger (in his last days) used to pray sitting. He would recite while sitting, and when thirty or forty verses remained from the recitation he would get up and recite them while standing and then he would bow and prostrate. He used to do the same in the second rak'a. After finishing the Prayer he used to look at me and if I was awake he would talk to me and if I was asleep, he would lie down.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by 'Aisha describes the prayer habits of the Prophet Muhammad in his last days. He would recite while sitting, and when thirty or forty verses remained from the recitation he would get up and recite them while standing and then he would bow and prostrate. He used to do the same in the second rak'a. After finishing his prayer, he used to look at 'Aisha and if she was awake he would talk to her, otherwise he would lie down. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our prayers as it is an important part of our faith as Muslims. We should also strive for consistency in our prayers so that we can reap its full benefits spiritually. Additionally, this hadith also shows us how much importance Prophet Muhammad placed on talking with his wife even during a time when it was not common for men to do so - showing us how important it is for husbands to communicate with their wives regularly.
