Sahih Muslim 1467b (Book 17, Hadith 79) #10783
Treating Women with Respect

SUMMARY: Women should be treated with respect and kindness, as attempting to change them will only lead to divorce.

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported: Woman has been created from a rib and will in no way be straightened for you; so if you wish to benefit by her, benefit by her while crookedness remains in her. And if you attempt to straighten her, you will break her, and breaking her is divorcing her.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect women for who they are and benefit from their qualities while respecting their differences and individuality .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how women should be treated. It is narrated by Abu Huraira, who was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The hadith states that women were created from a rib and cannot be straightened out like a piece of wood or metal. If someone tries to do this, it will only lead to divorce. This means that men should accept women for who they are and not try to change them in any way. Instead, they should benefit from their qualities while respecting their differences and individuality.
