Sahih al-Bukhari 1113 (Book 18, Hadith 33) #1073
Following the Imam in Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of following the Imam in prayer and how to do so.

Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Messenger prayed in his house while sitting during his illness and the people prayed behind him standing and he pointed to them to sit down. When he had finished the prayer, he said, "The Imam is to be followed and so when he bows you should bow; and when he lifts his head you should also do the same".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow your leader's instructions while praying

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that when praying, it is important to follow the lead of the Imam. When he bows down for Ruku', we should also bow down and when he lifts his head up after Ruku', we should also lift our heads up. This teaches us that it is important to be united as a community and follow one leader while praying. It also teaches us respect for our leaders and elders by following their lead.
