The Sin of Lying Against the Prophet (ﷺ)

SUMMARY: Lying against the Prophet (ﷺ) is a sin and will lead to Hell-fire.

Narrated 'Ali: The Prophet said, "Do not tell a lie against me for whoever tells a lie against me (intentionally) then he will surely enter the Hell-fire".
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْصُورٌ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رِبْعِيَّ بْنَ حِرَاشٍ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَكْذِبُوا عَلَىَّ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَىَّ فَلْيَلِجِ النَّارَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, narrated by 'Ali, warns us about the consequences of lying against the Prophet (ﷺ). It is important to remember that lying is a major sin in Islam and it can lead to severe punishment in this world and in the hereafter. In this hadith, we are warned that if someone lies against the Prophet (ﷺ) intentionally then they will surely enter Hell-fire. This means that even if someone tells a small lie about him or speaks ill of him, they will be punished for it. Therefore, we should always be careful not to tell any lies about him or speak ill of him as it can have serious consequences for us in both this world and hereafter.
