Prohibiting Marriage between Close Relatives

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to marry a woman with her father's sister or her mother's sister.

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger as saying: One should not combine in marriage a woman with her father's sister, or her mother's sister.
وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَعْنٍ الرَّقَاشِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، أَنَّهُ كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لاَ تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا وَلاَ عَلَى خَالَتِهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of marriage between close relatives. According to this hadith, it is not permissible for a person to marry their father’s sister or their mother’s sister. This means that if someone has an aunt on either side of their family, they are not allowed to marry them. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this so that we can protect our families and relationships from any potential harm that could come from such marriages. He also wanted us to maintain strong family ties and respect the boundaries set by Allah SWT in regards to marriage and relationships.
