Prohibiting Temporary Marriage and Eating Domestic Asses

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger prohibited the contracting of temporary marriage with women and the eating of the flesh of domestic asses.

'Ali b. AbiTalib reported that Allah's Messenger prohibited on the Day of Khaibar the contracting of temporary marriage with women and the eating of the flesh of domestic asses.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، وَالْحَسَنِ، ابْنَىْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنْ مُتْعَةِ النِّسَاءِ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ وَعَنْ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الإِنْسِيَّةِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Allah's Messenger prohibiting two things - temporary marriage with women, and eating the flesh of domestic asses. Temporary marriage, also known as Mut'ah, is a type of Islamic marriage that lasts for a specific period of time. It was practiced in pre-Islamic Arabia but was later abolished by Prophet Muhammad during his lifetime. Eating the flesh of domestic asses was also prohibited by Prophet Muhammad on this day in Khaibar, which is an oasis town located in Saudi Arabia today. The values taught through this hadith are obedience to Allah's commands and prohibitions, as well as respect for animals and their rights to life.
