Sahih Muslim 1406d (Book 16, Hadith 25) #10560
Temporary Marriage Forbidden Until the Day of Resurrection

SUMMARY: Allah has forbidden temporary marriage until the Day of Resurrection and those who have such a contract should let their partners go without taking back anything they have given them.

Sabra al-Juhani reported on the authority of his father that while he was with Allah's Messenger he said: O people, I had permitted you to contract temporary marriage with women, but Allah has forbidden it (now) until the Day of Resurrection. So he who has any (woman with this type of marriage contract) he should let her off, and do not take back anything you have given to them (as dower).

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey Allah's commands , Be generous , Be kind
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Allah forbidding temporary marriage until the Day of Resurrection. This type of marriage was allowed in certain circumstances before but now it is not allowed anymore. Those who are already in such a contract should let their partner go without taking back anything they have given them as dower or mahr. This hadith teaches us that we must obey Allah's commands and follow His laws even if it means letting go something we may be attached to or benefit from. It also teaches us to be generous and kind by not taking back what we have given away even if it is our right to do so.
