The Three Mosques Journey

SUMMARY: This hadith encourages Muslims to undertake a journey to three mosques: the Ka'ba, the Prophet's mosque, and the Mosque of Elia.

Abu Haraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) as saying: One should undertake journey to three mosques: the mosque of the Ka'ba, my mosque, and the mosque of Elia (Bait al-Maqdis).
وَحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، أَنَّ عِمْرَانَ بْنَ أَبِي أَنَسٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ سَلْمَانَ الأَغَرَّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يُخْبِرُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّمَا يُسَافَرُ إِلَى ثَلاَثَةِ مَسَاجِدَ مَسْجِدِ الْكَعْبَةِ وَمَسْجِدِي وَمَسْجِدِ إِيلِيَاءَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages Muslims to undertake a journey to three important mosques. The first is the Ka’ba in Makkah, which is considered as one of the holiest places in Islam. It is believed that it was built by Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail for worshipping Allah alone. The second mosque mentioned in this hadith is Masjid an-Nabawi located in Madinah, which was built by Prophet Muhammad himself. Lastly, Bait al Maqdis or Al Aqsa mosque located in Jerusalem is also mentioned as one of these three mosques that Muslims should visit at least once during their lifetime if they are able to do so. These three mosques are considered sacred places for Muslims and visiting them can bring spiritual rewards from Allah Almighty.
