Sahih Muslim 1392 (Book 15, Hadith 575) #10510
The Love of the Prophet for Medina and Uhud

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions travelling to Tabuk, and how he showed love for Medina and Uhud.

Abu Humaid (Allah be pleased with him) reported: We went out along with Allah's Messenger in the expedition of Tabuk, and Abu Humaid further related: We proceeded until we reached the valley of Qura; and Allah's Messenger said: I am going forth, so he among you who wants to move fast with me may do so; and he who likes to go slowly may do so. We proceeded until Medina was within our sight, and he said: This is Tabah (another name of Medina); this is Uhud, the mountain which loves us and we love it.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a journey that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ took with his companions to Tabuk. On their way, they passed by the valley of Qura, which was close to their destination. When they were close enough to see Medina, he said that it was a place that loved them as much as they loved it. He also mentioned that Uhud mountain was another place that held special significance for them both. This hadith teaches us about the importance of showing love towards places we hold dear in our hearts, such as our hometowns or places we have visited before. It also shows us how much respect and reverence Muslims should have for holy sites like Mecca or Jerusalem.
