The Naming of Medina

SUMMARY: Allah named Medina as Tabba.

Jabir b. Samura (Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard Allah's Messenger say: Allah named Medina as Tabba.
وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَهَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى سَمَّى الْمَدِينَةَ طَابَةَ

This hadith is about the naming of the city of Medina by Allah. According to this hadith, it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad that the city of Medina was given a special name by Allah - Tabba. It also teaches us that we should respect and honor places which are important in our religion, such as mosques or other holy sites.
