Sacrificial Animals of the Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sending sacrificial animals and avoiding anything a Muhrim would avoid.

'A'isha (Allah, be pleased, with her) reported: I often wove garlands for the sacrificial animals of Allah's Messenger , and he garlanded his sacrificial animals, and then he sent them and stayed in the ouse) avoiding nothing which a Muhrim avoids.
وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ رُبَّمَا فَتَلْتُ الْقَلاَئِدَ لِهَدْىِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَيُقَلِّدُ هَدْيَهُ ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُ بِهِ ثُمَّ يُقِيمُ لاَ يَجْتَنِبُ شَيْئًا مِمَّا يَجْتَنِبُ الْمُحْرِمُ

Stay away from any activities which are forbidden during this period such as cutting hair or nails, wearing perfume etc., so that we can gain maximum reward from our acts of worship .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of sacrifice in Islam. It was narrated by Aisha that she often wove garlands for the sacrificial animals of Allah's Messenger and he garlanded his sacrificial animals before sending them away. He also stayed in his house avoiding anything which a muhrim avoids. A muhrim is someone who is in a state of ihram or consecration during Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah. This hadith teaches us that we should follow the example set by our beloved Prophet Muhammad and perform sacrifices as an act of worship to Allah Almighty. We should also stay away from any activities which are forbidden during this period such as cutting hair or nails, wearing perfume etc., so that we can gain maximum reward from our acts of worship.
