Sahih al-Bukhari 1067 (Book 17, Hadith 1) #1028
Prostration During Recitation of Surah-Najm

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) recited Surah-Najm and prostrated while reciting it, but an old man who was with him did not do the same and was later killed as a non-believer.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud: The Prophet recited Surah-Najm (103) at Mecca and prostrated while reciting it and those who were with him did the same except an old man who took a handful of small stones or earth and lifted it to his forehead and said, "This is sufficient for me". Later on, I saw him killed as a non-believer.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prostrating during the recitation of Surah Najm. It is narrated by Abdullah bin Mas'ud that when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was reciting this sura at Mecca, he prostrated himself and those who were with him followed suit except for an old man who took a handful of small stones or earth and lifted it to his forehead instead. Later on, this old man was killed as a nonbeliever. This hadith teaches us that we should always follow in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet ﷺ in all matters related to religion, including prostration during prayer or recitation. We should also be aware that if we do not follow his teachings, then we may face dire consequences like this old man did.
