Reciting Tahlil and Takbir on Day of Arafah

SUMMARY: On the day of Arafah, Anas b. Malik (Allah be pleased with him) reported that some people in the company of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) recited Tahlil and Takbir without any disapproval from the Prophet.

Muhammad b. Abu Bakr al-Thaqafi asked Anas b. Malik (Allah be pleased with him), while on their way from Mina to 'Arafa in the morning: What did you do on this day in the company of Allah's Messenger ? Thereupon he said: One of us pronounced Tahlil, and he met with no disapproval, and one of us pronounced Takbir, and he also met with no disapproval.

QUICK LESSONS:
Recite 'Laa ilaaha illallaah' & 'Allahu Akbar' on Day Of Arafa

EXPLANATIONS:
On the day of Arafah, which is a holy day for Muslims, some people in the company of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recited Tahlil and Takbir without any disapproval from him. The words ‘Tahlil’ and ‘Takbir’ are Arabic words which mean to say ‘Lā ilāha illallāh’ or ‘There is no god but Allah’ and to say ‘Allahu Akbar’ or ‘God is Greatest’ respectively. This hadith teaches us that we should recite these two phrases on this special day as it was done by those who were in the company of our beloved prophet ﷺ. It also teaches us that we should not do anything against what our prophet did or said as he was sent by God to guide us towards righteousness.
