Sahih Muslim 1283d (Book 15, Hadith 299) #10234
The Talbiya of Muzdalifa

SUMMARY: Abdullah bin Mas'ud heard Talbiya from the Prophet Muhammad at Muzdalifa and he and the people with him pronounced it with him.

'Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid and al-Aswad b. Yazid reported: We heard 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud saying to the gathering of people (at Muzdalifa) that he had heard Talbiya from him, upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed, at this very place. And so he ('Abdullah b. Mas'ud) pronounced Talbiya and we also pronounced it with him.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pronounce talbiya while on pilgrimage to reap its spiritual rewards

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of supplication during pilgrimage, specifically at Muzdalifa where Prophet Muhammad was known to have recited talbiya, a form of supplication in Islam. It is narrated by 'Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid and al-Aswad b. Yazid who reported that they heard Abdullah bin Mas'ud say that he had heard talbiya from Prophet Muhammad himself at this very place, so he pronounced it and everyone else followed suit in pronouncing it as well. This hadith teaches us the importance of supplicating to Allah during pilgrimage as well as following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad's teachings even when we are away from home on a journey or pilgrimage for example, so that we can reap its rewards both spiritually and physically too!
