Sahih Muslim 1259c (Book 15, Hadith 252) #10187
Praying on a Hillock in Mecca

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) entering Mecca and spending the night at Dhi Tuwa, then praying on a hillock near the mosque.

Abdullah (b'.Umar) reported that whenever Allah's Messenger entered Mecca, he got down at Dhi Tuwa and spend the night there until he observed the dawn prayer. And Allah's Messenger observed this prayer on a rough hillock, and not in the mosque which had been then built there, but to the lower side of it (the mosque) on a hillock.

QUICK LESSONS:
Spend time in devotion to God through prayer wherever you may be; Be humble while worshipping God; Focus on your connection with Him through prayer instead of seeking grandeur or extravagance.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of Prophet Muhammad's practice when he entered Mecca. He would spend the night at Dhi Tuwa and pray on a hillock near the mosque instead of inside it. This shows us that even though mosques are places of worship, we can still pray anywhere as long as we have faith in our hearts and are devoted to God. It also teaches us to be humble and not seek out grandeur or extravagance when worshipping God, but rather to focus on our connection with Him through prayer.
