EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the number of pilgrimages that were performed by the beloved prophet of Allah, Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). According to this hadith, he performed one Hajj and four Umrahs. The Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that Muslims are required to perform at least once in their lifetime if they are able-bodied and financially capable. It is a spiritual journey that involves rituals such as circling the Kaaba seven times, walking between two hills called Safa and Marwa seven times each way, throwing stones at three pillars representing Satan’s temptations of Abraham’s faith in God, sacrificing an animal for charity or money for those who cannot afford it. On the other hand, an Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca which can be done any time throughout the year but it does not replace Hajj as its rituals are fewer than those of Hajj. This hadith teaches us how important it is for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligations such as performing pilgrimages if they have the means to do so.
