EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of performing Umra and Hajj for God's sake. It is narrated by Abu Jam at al-Dubu'i who reported that he performed Tamattu', but people discouraged him from doing so. He then asked Ibn 'Abbas about it, who ordered him to do so. He then went to the House and slept, where he saw a visitor in his dream who said that both Umra and Hajj are acceptable if done for God's sake. When he informed Ibn Abbas about this dream, Ibn Abbas said that this was indeed the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This hadith teaches us that we should perform our religious duties with sincerity and devotion towards Allah SWT, as it was also practiced by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself. We should not be discouraged by what others say or think when we are fulfilling our religious obligations; rather we should focus on pleasing Allah SWT through our actions.
