Sahih Muslim 1211r (Book 15, Hadith 136) #10071
The Reward of Performing Umrah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encourages Aisha to perform Umrah after her period of menses is over, and promises that the reward for this Umra will be equal to her hardship or spending.

AI-Qasim narrated from the Mother of the Believers (Hadrat 'A'isha) that she said: Messenger of Allah. the people return (from Mecca) having done two worships (both Hajj and Umra), but I am coming back with one (only). whereupon he said: You should wait and when the period of menses is over, you should go to Tan'im and put on Ihram and then meet us at such and such time (and I think he said tomorrow) ; and (the reward of this Umra) is for you equal to your hardship or your spending.

He promises that she will receive a reward for performing this pilgrimage which will be equal to any hardship or spending she may have endured in doing so. This hadith teaches us that Allah rewards those who make sacrifices in order to fulfill their religious obligations and duties. It also shows us how much importance Prophet Muhammad placed on fulfilling religious obligations, as he encouraged Aisha even though she was not able to go with him at first due to her menstrual cycle. Furthermore, it teaches us about the importance of patience and perseverance when it comes to fulfilling our religious duties; even if we are unable or hindered from doing them at first, we should still strive towards completing them when possible.
