Sahih al-Bukhari 1043 (Book 16, Hadith 4) #1007
Praying During an Eclipse

SUMMARY: The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death or life of someone, but when an eclipse occurs, one should pray and invoke Allah.

Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba: "The sun eclipsed in the lifetime of Allah's Messenger on the day when (his son) Ibrahim died. So the people said that the sun had eclipsed because of the death of Ibrahim. Allah's Messenger said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death or life (ie birth) of someone. When you see the eclipse pray and invoke Allah".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray and invoke Allah whenever witnessing an eclipse .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about eclipses, which are a natural phenomenon that occur when either the sun or moon is blocked from view by another celestial body. In this hadith, it is narrated that during the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), there was an eclipse on the day his son Ibrahim died. People assumed that this was a sign from Allah in response to Ibrahim's death, but Prophet Muhammad clarified that eclipses are not caused by any human event. Instead, he instructed people to pray and invoke Allah whenever they witness an eclipse. This teaches us to remember Allah in all circumstances and to turn to Him for guidance in times of difficulty or confusion. It also reminds us that we should not attribute natural events to any human action as only Allah has control over such matters.
