Sahih al-Bukhari 1040 (Book 16, Hadith 1) #1004
Praying During Solar Eclipses

SUMMARY: The Prophet (pbuh) taught that the sun and moon do not eclipse because of someone's death, and when an eclipse occurs, one should pray and invoke Allah until it is over.

Narrated Abu Bakra: We were with Allah's Messenger when the sun eclipsed. Allah's Messenger stood up dragging his cloak till he entered the Mosque. He led us in a two-rak'at prayer till the sun (eclipse) had cleared. Then the Prophet (pbuh) said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of someone's death. So whenever you see these eclipses pray and invoke (Allah) till the eclipse is over".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray and invoke Allah during an eclipse.

EXPLANATIONS:
During a solar eclipse, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) taught his companions to pray and invoke Allah until the eclipse was over. He explained that eclipses are not caused by someone's death but rather are natural occurrences. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our relationship with Allah during times of difficulty or distress. We should remember to turn to Him in prayer for guidance and comfort during difficult times. Additionally, this hadith reminds us that we should never attribute natural occurrences to superstition or bad luck as they are all part of God’s plan for us.
