QUICK LESSONS:
Respect all living creatures; Show mercy even towards those creatures which may seem harmful to us
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how killing certain animals within the precinct of the Ka’ba is not considered a sin. The Ka’ba is a holy site located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia and it is considered to be one of Islam's holiest sites. This hadith was narrated by Ibn 'Umar, who was one of Prophet Muhammad's companions. He said that there are five specific animals whose killing or being killed within this sacred area would not be considered sinful. These five animals are snakes, rats, scorpions, kites and ravens. This hadith teaches us that we should respect all living creatures and show mercy even towards those creatures which may seem harmful to us as they too have their place in this world and should be respected accordingly.
