Killing Certain Animals Allowed in Islam

SUMMARY: Killing certain animals is allowed in Islam, such as voracious dogs, rats, scorpions, kites, crows and snakes.

Zaid b. Jubair reported: A person asked Ibn 'Umar which beast a Muhrim could kill, whereupon he said: One of the wives of Allahs Apostle told me: He (the Holy Prophet) commanded to kill voracious dog, rat, scorpion, kite, crow, and snake (and this is allowed) likewise in prayer.
حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ ابْنَ عُمَرَ مَا يَقْتُلُ الرَّجُلُ مِنَ الدَّوَابِّ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي إِحْدَى نِسْوَةِ النَّبِيِّ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِقَتْلِ الْكَلْبِ الْعَقُورِ وَالْفَارَةِ وَالْعَقْرَبِ وَالْحُدَيَّا وَالْغُرَابِ وَالْحَيَّةِ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَفِي الصَّلاَةِ أَيْضًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that it is permissible to kill certain animals according to Islamic teachings. These animals include voracious dogs, rats, scorpions, kites, crows and snakes. This was commanded by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself and is allowed even during prayer time. The purpose of this permission is to protect people from harm or danger caused by these creatures as they can be a nuisance or cause harm to humans or their property.
