Sahih al-Bukhari 1037 (Book 15, Hadith 32) #1001
Praying for Blessings and Warning of Afflictions

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) prayed for the blessings of Sham and Yemen, but when people asked him to include Najd in his prayer, he warned them that earthquakes and afflictions will come from there.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: (The Prophet) said, "O Allah! Bless our Sham and our Yemen". People said, "Our Najd as well". The Prophet again said, "O Allah! Bless our Sham and Yemen". They said again, "Our Najd as well". On that the Prophet said, "There will appear earthquakes and afflictions, and from there will come out the side of the head of Satan".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray carefully with consideration before making requests ; Be mindful of what one asks for ; Understand Allah’s will ; Be aware of potential consequences ; Have humility before God’s power .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is teaching us about the importance of prayer. He was praying for blessings on Sham and Yemen when people asked him to include Najd in his prayer as well. However, instead of granting their request, he warned them that earthquakes and afflictions would come from there. This teaches us that we should be careful with our prayers because Allah may not grant our requests if they are not beneficial or wise. We should also be mindful of what we ask for because it could have negative consequences if it is not in line with Allah's will.
