Sahih Muslim 1197 (Book 15, Hadith 70) #10005
Eating During Ihram

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a group of people who were in the state of Ihram and were presented with a cooked bird. Some ate it while some refrained from eating it. When Talha awoke, he agreed with those who ate it and said that they had eaten the same bird along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).

'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Uthman Taimi reported on the authority of his father: While we were with Talha b. Ubaidullah and were in the state of Ihram we were presented a (cooked) bird. Talha was sleeping. Some of us ate it and some of us refrained from (eating) it. When Talha awoke he agreed with him who ate it, and said: We ate it along with the Messenger of Allah .

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your elders even if you disagree with them , Follow rules set by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ or his companions , Understand exceptions to Islamic rules .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of people who were in the state of Ihram, which is an important part of Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. They were presented with a cooked bird, which some chose to eat while others refrained from doing so. When Talha awoke, he agreed with those who ate it and said that they had eaten the same bird along with Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This shows us that although certain things are prohibited during Ihram, there are exceptions to this rule if one has permission from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ or his companions. It also teaches us to be respectful towards our elders even if we disagree with them as Talha accepted what was done even though he was not present when it happened.
