| What is happening to the people of Turkey?. I thought they are 99 percent Muslims and yet chose to be secular (sic-nothing to do with God's rules and regulations). Where is their stand on Articles of Faith (rukun Iman) i.e believe in God? NauzubiLLahi min zaalik. |

It is long and sad story of fall of the Islamic Caliphate in WWI and the war of independence in it's wake under a secular leader Kemal who decided the new Turkey to be totally secular and replaced the Islamic laws and Arabic script with everything European out of spite cuz the Muslim Arabs territories had collaborated with the enemies the Brits and French in the war.

Actually the fall of the Islamic Caliphate should be looked as a blessing. Muhammad himself would cherish this moment, because you people do not know how to govern yourself in accordance to the Koran. You people only know how to piss other people off.
In reality, the koran specifically states the muslims should be united. You cannot be united in any other means outside of a federation. Also you should keep religion and state seperate. The Koran should be in Kurdish, Persian, Azeri, Turkish, Aramaic, and in Chinese as it is in Arabic. You all are going to Jahannan, until you can learn to live in secularism as told by the prophet Jesus. Jesus wants co-existence, Allah wants co-existence, Muhammad wants co-existence, the Kurds wants co-existence, and I want co-existence. The only people that don't want co-existece are you guys. And hope I am wrong about that. ------------- One man cannot change the word, but a society can make a difference. |

Islamic Caliphate is not possible by todays standards; maybe they can form some thing like EU or NATO.

The Ottoman empire was viable as amalgam of lots of different tribal societies, until the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Turks - Young Turks took power in 1908 and strived to establish a European-style national state, based on Turkish identity. They wanted to use state power to homogenize the various people of the empire. That caused trouble with the Armenians, Greek, Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, and others. They all insurrected very soon against these policies, using whatever tools they could lay their hands on, including collaboration with the Brits and French, in order to get rid of the Young Turks. The Young Turks were right to see that the largely homogenized state bureaucracies of Europe had managed to increase their power drastically and their ability to field large, modern armies, against which the Ottomans were no match. However, they should also have understood that the Ottoman empire was only viable as long as it restrained from any attempt at homogenization. Whatever they did, they were going to lose the war, and lose entire areas, such as Egypt, to western colonization. It is only on the very long run, that they stood a chance, after the western colonialists would inevitably keep homogenizing and then over-homogenize their populations into oblivion. |
