Serial blasts halt Mumbai's Western Railway July 11, 2006 19:03 IST Four bomb blasts today rocked the suburban railway service in Mumbai. Reports of bomb blasts have come in from between Mahim-Matunga, Khar, Jogeshwari and Mira Road railway stations, at a time when the suburban commuter traffic was its heaviest. The first blast was said to have taken place at 6.25 pm at Khar. The Western Railway emergency service has so far confirmed the Khar blast, and said further details were awaited. Rediff.com's Syed Firdaus Ashraf, who was at Mahim railway station soon after reports of the blast came in, said he could see one train compartment that was completely blown up in the explosion, and people were carrying bodies away. The Western Railway has suspended its suburban services soon after the blasts. Local telephone lines were jammed as panic-stricken commuters called their near and dear ones to alert them of the blasts. | I think this is the worst attack of its kind. In 1993, serial blasts had rocked Mumbai causing great damage and loss of lives, but these blasts in local trains in Mumbai which have happened today are even worse. It is said that the local trains of Mumbai are Mumbai's lifeline and like a spine. Millions of people in Mumbai use local trains daily, and the trains are jam packed. Targetting the local trains of Mumbai is like targetting WTC. |

| As far as I know, Indians are a brave people. They are very helpful. The rich, the poor, the Muslim, the Hindu and people from different sections of the society come together in such situations to lend a helping hand, even those who live in slums come out in large numbers to contribute help in such situations. |

again, you get into a few issues in indian history in which indians made mistakes. everyone commit mistakes buddy. but now leaving the culprits is another mistake which is not to be done. dont dig the past buddy, it stinks. remember the genocide of the banglas by the pakistanis? the operation searchlight?  |
