This is my first post at IslamiCity.com

I basically joined this forum because i received an email which outlined an article "Who are we? Who defines us?

and though i understand what the brother is saying, i have to strongly disagree that islam is NOT non-violent

islam is peaceful, but defense of muslims and spreading islam over the laws and ways of kufr and jahiliya are part and parcel of islam

in an effort for us to appear "acceptable" to the kuffar, let us not distort islam, by any means

there are numerous ayat and ahaadith of the messenger of Allah and His companions extolling the virtues of jihad

and in light of today, where muslims are being killed like it is hunting season, and NO ONE is standing up to defend the muslims, let us not distort islam and the pinnacle contained within it

Brother Aslam is correct in his title, Let Quran and Sunnah define us, not the ways of those who have wahn

Please let us not forget that jihad is not necessarily a display of might and force... a lot can be accomplished passively without bloodshed by using the pen.

Jihad, linguistically has many meanings, but deeni, it means fighting in the cause of Allah

just like Salat, linguistically, means Dua, but deeni, it means the five prayers

Allah commands jihad in the full sense. We may disagree with its application, or methodology, or even details smaller than that.

But as muslims, we should not negate such an important part of our deen
