| Question-why strive for sustained fusion when you could pulse and pump energy release? Researchers at Lawrence Livermore national laboratory yielded more than 10 quadrillion watts in a trillionth of a second. Why not pump/pulse the energy release rather than sustained fusion? Edit. The question is if they can generate 10 quadrillion watts in a trillionth of a second then why not pump the system with (say) every 2 trillionth of a second dumping energy pretty much constantly. As Lt col Tom Bearden said- humanity will destruct itself for the last litre of oil. He predicted the oil wars. RIP TOM BEARDEN
