Selam Aleikum brothers and sisters. New here. May peace find you all God willing.

I have a question regarding baby names. Me and my wife are looking at a few boy names. My question is, isit ok to name a boy a islamic name but with different spelling.

For example, Ilyas, but name the baby Elias? Is this permissable?

Also the name Luay/Luai? How would this be pronouced?

Ilyas, i listen this name, but i can not listen Luay name plz inform the meaning of Luay
