Assalam Alaykoum,

What is the best (the most correct) spelling of the Muslim name يوسف (it�s the name of a prophet): Yousef, Youssef, Youssouf, Yusuf?

Are some of the four spellings incorrect to the point that they lose the meaning of the Muslim name يوسف?

Assalamu Alykum Koopa,

I would start saying: Yousuf is not an arabic name, we got it from the Quran telling us about Yousuf the prophet, I think it's Hebrew name.

But the most correct spelling is: Yoosuf because the letter S: س
has Damma whitish is produced as u in this case (oo here is pronounced as in "good".
