The focus will be the four primary sources of Islamic law, together with the supplementary sources used in the practice of ijtihad (independent legal deduction). Primary Text: Mabadi Fi Usul al-Fiqh by Shaykh Mohammad Akram Nadwi About the Text: Mabadi Fi Usul al-Fiqh by Shaykh Akram Nadwi is part of a series of five books written by Shaykh Akram Nadwi in order to introduce the sciences of Quran, Hadith, fiqh and Arabic language. The book provides an introduction to Usul al-Fiqh in a concise yet comprehensive way making a suitable book for a beginner. Teaching Method: During the course the primary text will be read in Arabic along with its translation, commentary and relevance to the wider field. There will be an encouragement for the teaching to be interactive, with questions both posed of the students and welcomed from them.
