Supplication is the brain and soul of prayers. When we pray alone we supplicate to the content of our heart. Anything and everything we can think of, we beg our Gracious Rabb for it and hope for early acceptance.

But when it comes to congregation prayers situation changes dramatically. The Imame would not pray or if he does at all , will only say "Alhamdo Lillahe Rabilalamin".

I think it is due to influence of some Imams who claim that prayer includes everything including supplication. Yes basically Surah Fateha includes all basic things a nation needs. But there are some supplications specific to a particular place or country. Like weather, famine or lawlessness etc. The imam who leads the congregation should supplicate for those local problems. Prophet Muhammad SAW used to supplicate and his so many prayers
are recorded only because he begged those supplications
to Allah in a congregation.

Allah SWT has warned that whoever is so proud as not to
supplicate, will be sent to hell with insult!

Think and ponder, brothers & sisters!

Supplication is best in Islam. The advantages of supplication are tremendous as are its advantages.
Supplication is an act of obedience to Allah. By offering supplications, we are actually carrying out Allahs command. Allah says: And your Lord said: Supplicate to Me, I shall answer you. [Srah Ghfir: 60]

He also says: And supplicate to Him, making your religion sincerely for Him alone. [Srah al-A`rf: 29]
