Hello! I'm a Christian pastor, and this weekend I will be teaching our high school youth about Islam. Here is my question:
What would you, as a Muslim, want me to convey to a group of young Christians about your faith?

I know this is general and broad, but I feel it's a way for my youth to hear not just a Christian viewpoint, but to hear from actual Muslims. Thanks for any help!

Hi and welcome.

They need to know that the word Christians, Jesus, Mary are written in the Qur'an therefore we as muslims can not write them out, even if we want to LOL.

Alright joke aside, the best way to do it is by telling them with what we share. Muhammad had Gabriel so too the son of Mary, but Ibrohim did not have any, no prophet guided him no angel delivered the message. He was truly a starting point almost for everyone, including the Hindus with their Brahma. If God does not exist than he was the one who invented God - so to speak.

His heart in searching for God was a khaneef: Serious but naive, baby like, pure yet uncompromising. Maybe he was Akhnaten, the king who was surrounded by idol worshippers, yet he hate idols to the core. He destroyed them and ask his people to worship one and only God instead - the Sun. His very short hymn to the sun was very touchy. In one of the oldest hadith Muhammad before his prophet-hood was recorded asking his cousin Ali if he likes those idols in the Ka'bah, Ali said no. And Muhammad murmured: I hate them.

Ibrohim was not promised with rewards (lollies!) of heavenly rewards yet he marched on. I don't know if this would be suitable for your students - by telling them to appreciate the give of life that we have today, instead of doing it because future lollies?

Maybe a brief thought of how valuable our existance in this world will be able  to create a genuine feeling of love and respect, instead of relying the reward of eternal life. If we can't appreciate this short life than we are not fit to enter the eternal one.

There are so many thing but I think the Abraham story and his being is the best. (Chapter 6: 75 - 83)

Salaam and all the best.

first of all if U want to teach basic about Islam, please convey them that a person need not have just a Persian or Urdu name to b a Muslim.a Muslim is a person that follows Qur'an and sayings of prophet.Islam is just not a religion its a way of life,eg Allah forbids alcohol, pork in Surah Al Maidah ch 5 v 90,and we know that these 2 are the root of various diseases, then Allah forbids backbiting in Surah Al hujurat ch 49 v 11-12,and we know it is the root if so many quarells,Allah forbids adultery, fornication in Surah Al Israa ch 17 v 32 etc,so logically if anybody follows Qur'an he will lead a peaceful and happy life.In Islam Jesus Christ(pbuh) is regarded as a great messenger, and its a duty of every Muslim to respect him.i want to end this with Surah Al ikhlaas ch 112 v 1-4-Say Allah is one,Allah is eternal,he is not born nor he give birth, there is nothing like him.
