Now is the time to talk gun control

Sign the petition asking President Obama to help start a national conversation about gun control. We will deliver the signatures to the White House:

I'm sorry to be negative about this but gun control in the United States will never happen. For one thing it is a multi billion dollar industry and the people involved will protect their interest at all cost. Then there are those who will argue that ownership of a gun is a given right of the American citizen.

Of course facts speak for themselves, in a country where there are hardly any ownership of guns there are almost no gun related casualties. In places like the American continent death from a gun shot is a phenomenal statistic.

Similarly, the build up of arms in the American defence must be spent by them by creating a war somewhere inthe world so that they can re-build the arms stock pile. The arms manufacturers and the American military have a symbiotic relationship, unfortunately.

The second amendment is created centuries ago. No automated machine gun on that time. It's a "war" time (worry that Britain would come back)

I totally support tough control laws and I used to be pessimistic about any change happening in the United States. It could be different this time. The recent killing spree in Newtown might change the majority's opinion.

But gun control laws are not enough. We also need a debate about violence in movies, tv series and computer games. Kids need to learn how to deal with conflicts without resorting to violence.

I signed it and passed it on to others I know. God bless you for being involved in this. Enough blood has been spilled.

Again, screening doesn't work. Someone might a good person today, but no guaranty a day or week later. And many times we realize the fact (some one has changed) already too late, the blood already spilled, the innocent soul has departed from the body.

An important topic. Lets hope that public opinion favoring more restrictions will remain till Congress has chosen to act. Lets hope that history will not repeat itself.
